Leasing Options

How much does it cost to lease a horse?

You pay one low monthly lease fee -- and we pay all stabling costs, including feed, hay, shavings, veterinary and farrier care. (Full leases may require additional costs, however, depending upon the horse's needs.) We usually require a 3-month minimum lease period, which includes a 30-day trial.

Most -- but not all -- of the horses we offer for lease are school horses here at Cougar Mountain Stables, which means that they're only available for quarter or half leases:

QUARTER LEASE: For $180 a month, quarter-lease students may ride one additional day per week, including preferred use of that horse for regular lessons, camps and clinics.

HALF LEASE: Half-leasing for $360 per month, gives you a horse of your own two days each week, including preferred use of that horse for your riding lessons, camps and clinics.

FULL LEASE: For $700 per month, we'll reserve five days per week for your exclusive use of the horse. Full-leases require that you also help contribute to the costs of additional supplements if needed, or routine farrier and health care, which will vary according to the horse's needs.
